What is CBD & How Can You Easily Add It To Your Life?

I am sure you have seen CBD everywhere by now. It’s in chocolates, lemonades and even an add-on to your coffee in the super hip coffee shops, but what is it? What are the benefits and, realistically, how can you add CBD to your life at home?
I have a funny story about how I started using CBD. It’s only funny now because when it happened it was super painful and wasn’t anything to laugh about. In 2017, I was at Expo West (the largest natural products expo) and, about 3 hours in to the first day, I sprained my knee! It was so painful! I probably shouldn’t have walked on it all day for 4 days straight, but I did. An hour before I hurt my knee I visited a CBD booth. I was curious about it, but wasn’t sure I would use it or try it until I could learn more, do some research and talk to my hubby about it. They were super friendly, informative and even gave me a full size jar of topical CBD. I stuck it in my backpack and moved on.
After I sprained my knee, I tried not to cry and found a corner to sit down and figure out what I was going to do. The first person I wanted to call was my grampa John (a doctor), but sadly he had passed away just 2 months prior. I was by myself (no Jeff around — sad face). I then realized that I had a jar of topical CBD and decided to give it a try. It was then that I was all in and totally a believer in it. I reapplied it on and off during the next 4 days (and after of course) during the expo, and it was really the only way I was able to make it. I was still in pain, but the CBD helped a lot.
I have tried CBD as a topical cream, in a roll on stick, in chocolate, in coffee and taking it straight. I think I have the most success with topical CBD, but it has also helped me a bit with sleep. There are so many brands out here and it can be hard to know exactly what brand is the best. I actually use a few different brands, but want to talk about one of them for this post.
LIIV Wellness was founded by Christian Lepore in 2017. He had a passion of sharing the benefits of Hemp CBD after seeing how much it helped his wife and her terrible sciatica pains.
What is CBD?
CBD (Cannabidiol) is a non-psychotropic cannabinoid compound with therapeutic potential. It is one of many cannabinoids or molecules that comes from the cannabis family. It is different from tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in that it doesn’t have an effect on cognitive brain activity which causes a “high” that is associated with marijuana. CBD oil is extracted from the cannabis plant and then diluted with a carrier oil. It’s grown to be pretty popular in the last few years and, as I said before, in some places you can get it as an add-on, an expensive add-on, to your morning lattes.
What are the benefits?
I am not a doctor and none of this is medical advice, but many people have seen lots of positive benefits from taking and using CBD. I personally have loved using it in topical form (creams or lotions) for aches and pains and, well, that stupid sprained knee. I also have used it for sleep and it does certainly help us. There is no one-size-fits-all with CBD, as it can do different things for different people.
Taking CBD can help with inflammation, pain, sleep, depression, arthritis, and a long list of other things.
How can you add it into your daily routine?
You can add it to your morning latte, smoothies, in chocolate, baked goods, or even take it orally by itself. You can take it in capsule form, tinctures, and edibles. It doesn’t have to mixed with anything to get the full benefits.
What I really like about LIIV Wellness is that they use organic ingredients and they really care about the high quality ingredients that go into their products. They are really knowledgeable about their entire line and the different products that they offer. They don’t use any additives, preservatives or flavorings, solvents, herbicides or pesticides and they are third party tested for purity and potency. They don’t contain any THC and are all LIIV Wellness CBD drops are Vegan, Gluten Free, Non-GMO and Organic.
I tend to reach for my CBD for sleep or stress. I feel like it does help me, personally. I really like the Recovery Mint Spray from LIIV Wellness and have been using it for the past few weeks.
The first product that I tried from LIIV Wellness was the Fresh Start Blend, and I normally would put that in my coffee. It’s better to put it under the tongue for fast absorption into the body, but you can do whatever works best for you.
