CDFExpo Review & Favorite Finds

I attended my first Celiac Disease Foundation Conference and Expo (CDFExpo) in Pasadena last weekend, and it was incredible. CDFExpo is the nation’s premier event for celiac disease and gluten sensitivity. There are over 3000 people that attend, and it’s the only event in the country where there are educational sessions with the top researchers and doctors in the country. There’s also a decent sized expo hall where the best companies are sampling their delicious gluten free products. It’s a great chance to find safe-to-eat foods for you and your family. You will also see cooking demonstrations and even a few book signings.

I highly recommend that you stay tuned for any event that the Celiac Disease Foundation puts on. You are good hands and in a safe space with other like-minded people who understand what it's like to live with a gluten allergy or intolerance.

My favorite session that I attended was led by my friend and amazing Celiac Awareness advocate, Erica Dermer (celiacandthebeast.com). She talked all about traveling with Celiac Disease. It’s more than just finding safe foods when you travel, it’s also about bringing safe foods with you in your suitcase, safe utensils, safe beauty products and more. She showed us what she takes with her when she travels: ready-to-drink protein shakes, snacks, sweets and anything that she might need when she takes a trip. Erica travels a lot … over 40 trips a year, all over the country and has it down pat. She also has an incredible, informative and very funny book all about living with celiac disease. You can order her amazing book, here.

Here are my favorite finds from CDFExpo:

1. Gluten Free Forever Magazine

This was such an amazing find! I had seen this magazine in the store, but only in passing. This is a gorgeous quarterly magazine that is for food lovers! Whether you are looking for drinks, dishes, meals, desserts or even product finds, this magazine is for you.

It’s basically a stunning cookbook delivered to your doorstep every quarter. Every issue is jam-packed with recipes from top chefs, cookbook authors and bloggers. There are tutorials for mastering gluten free cooking, new trends, products, people and even places that you should know about. The photography is beautiful, and everything is gluten free… forever!

You can subscribe to this must-have magazine and have it delivered to your door, here. You won’t regret it!

2. Maxine’s Heavenly Cookies

This gluten free, soft cookie is definitely one of my favorite finds! Not only is it gluten free, but it’s also nonGMO, soy free, vegan and sweetened with coconut sugar! There are 4 different flavors as well as a seasonal Pumpkin Spice flavor: Peanut Butter Chocolate Chunk, Almond Chocolate Chunk, Cinnamon Oatmeal Raisin and Chocolate Chocolate Chunk. I am drooling as I type this. Theses are probably my favorite soft baked gluten free cookies that are also cane sugar free (I have a high cane sugar intolerance). You have to check out this amazing brand!

You can order cookies on their website or visit their store locator to see where you can get some of these cookies ASAP!

3. Muffin Revolution’s new LA LA Lemon Zuchinni Chia Muffins

I am already a big fan of Muffin Revolution and their incredible muffins. Their muffins are made with clean ingredients and are paleo, gluten free and low in sugar (dates). They also have other muffin flavors: 24 Carrot Gold (Carrot Raisin Flax), Banana Bam Bam (Banana Blueberry Coconut), Cha Cha Cha (Chocolate Cherry Chia), The Hulk (Coconut Banana Spirulina) and Yam Good (Yam Apple Pecan). I highly recommend these amazing muffins - they are very tasty, filling and they have great flavor options to choose from.

You can use their store locator to find their muffins in a freezer section near you or order online.

4. Canyon Bakehouse’s Rosemary & Thyme Focaccia

Wow! My mouth is watering right now! This focaccia bread is unlike any other gluten free bread that I have tasted. It doesn't even taste gluten free (though it most definitely is)!

Canyon Bakehouse nailed this recipe and I am beyond stoked to have found it. It’s gluten free, vegan and nonGMO. It’s also dairy, soy and nut free, too. It tastes just like the bread that you are served at a Greek or Italian restaurant. This bread can be used as a pizza crust or flatbread, dipped in olive oil or just eaten straight out of the bag (because that’s how we ate most of it).

You can order it online or use their store locator to see where you can find it near you!

5. My Bread’s Pita Bread

Oh, how I have missed eating pita bread! I may-or-may-not have kept swinging by their booth to eat fresh, hot samples of their amazing pita bread. This pita bread is gluten free, nut free, dairy free, egg free and soy free and tasty, too. You can use it to eat your favorite dips, make a sandwich or pita pocket or even a pizza! Yes - you read that right! A PIZZA! I was blown away by this amazing pita bread, and you will be too!

You can check their store locator to see where you can find this yummy pita bread or order online!
