The Many Uses Of Coconut Oil

Someone once said “I have 99 problems but coconut oil solves 86 of them.” I don’t know who that person is, but I saw it on Facebook once. Whoever said it speaks 100% truth! Coconut oil has so many uses - it's pretty magical!

Coconut oil is filled with healthy medium chain fatty acids and has a high smoke point unlike olive oil. Because it has a higher smoke point, it won't oxidize (which created free radicals) at high temperatures. It also is easy to digest, so use it in everything: stir fries, smoothies, baking, cooking, dressings, marinades, roasted veggies, popcorn, coffee and anything else you can think of.

Coconut oil isn’t just great for cooking, it’s also wonderful for making your own deodorant, teeth whitening, moisturizing your skin, removing your makeup, shaving cream, lip balm, and so much more. You can even use it as a hair mask treatment. It's great for dry and damaged hair. Just lather your hair and scalp with a small amount of coconut oil - a little goes a long way. Put it in a bun and put a shower cap on. Let it sit for a 25 minutes to an hour (whatever you have time for) and then rinse with a natural shampoo. Condition. Repeat once a week or a twice a month.

I personally use it for cooking, baking, roasting veggies, making homemade deodorant (that really works!), on my cuticles and in lip balm. Coconut oil can even whiten your teeth. I use it to oil pull every morning. I swish around about a tablespoon of coconut oil in my mouth for 10-15 minutes in the morning. The hardest part is not being able to talk, obviously, so I use that as time to reply to emails or read on my phone. You can learn more about oil pulling, here
