EatingEVOLVED Hot Chocolate

There's nothing wrong with having a little bit of sugar (that is organic) in your life. I love sweets - but with my cane sugar allergy it can make life a little more frustrating because I can't just go grab a hot chocolate while I am out running errands or while I am on vacay. But when you find a product like Eating EVOLVED's incredible Hot Chocolate + Collagen (or their regular Hot Chocolate) you simply freak out with crazy excitement like you won the chocolate lottery!

I have said this a hundred million times... with companies like this (Eating EVOLVED) I honesty don't care that I have food allergies. I can enjoy Hot Chocolate that is made with quality ingredients, healthy ingredients and tasty ingredients.

Before I tell you more about this amazing company, let's talk about Hot Chocolate because it is one of the most popular hot drinks ever. It's been around for a bajillion years and is still beloved by people of all ages. You can add peppermint to it during the holidays, a hint of orange peel or even some cinnamon to spice things up. You can top it with marshmallows, whipped cream or just drink it plain. It's a popular drink that you can easily find just about anywhere to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Here's the problem with hot chocolate though: It's filled with way too much sugar and sometimes a lot of unnecessary ingredients that are basically chemicals. The super popular chocolatey drink that is loved by so many comes with some baggage. Have you ever ordered a grande hot chocolate with whipped cream from Starbucks? Did you know that there are 43g of sugar in a grande hot chocolate? We wont even talk about the venti that has 55g of sugar without even adding whipped cream! Did you know that when you are treating your kids to a kids hot chocolate you are actually harming them by giving them 24g of sugar in that little tiny cup?

After doing a little research online about how much sugar kids should have in a day (depending on their age of course), I got a bit frustrated. You see, I have seen kids who are about 4 years old drinking grande hot chocolates. Looking at the numbers, however, that's about 4 or 5 times the amount of sugar they should have in an entire day. I could go on an on about how people feed their kids (and themselves) way too much sugar.

"Natural sugar is part of any balanced diet. A diet rich in fruits and vegetables includes

natural sugars and will provide a valuable source of vitamins and minerals. These natural

sugars are not the source of health problems; the added sugars are responsible for the

negative consequences of excess sugar in the diet." (http://www.md-health.com/)

Don't get me wrong, I loved hot chocolate as a kid. While my parents never bought me my own hot chocolate from Starbucks but maybe once or twice a year, I still drank it from those packets where you add hot water. I looked up Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate packets, because that is what I remember drinking, and while the ingredients were crazy, there were only about 8g - 11g of sugar per packet (depending on if we got the packets with the mini marshmallows in them). Not too bad and way, way less than I thought there would be.

So, with that said, I found this super fabulous brand on Instagram back in December and placed an order for a few chocolate bars and some of their Hot Chocolate + Collagen. My order arrived around New Years, and since then I am beyond hooked. I drink hot chocolate just about every day - morning or evening - depending on my mood.

The ingredients in this amazing Hot Chocolate + Collagen are: Organic Cacao, Organic Coconut Sugar, Organic Cacao Powder, Organic Cacao Butter, Grass-Fed Collagen

So, basically I am in love with Eating EVOLVED, and I don't care who knows it!

Here's how I like to prepare it:

1) Heat up about 1.5 cups Good Karma Foods Flax Milk (Unsweetened) on the stovetop.

2) Pour hot flax milk into your blender

3) Add in 2-3 TBs of Hot Chocolate + Collagen to the flax milk

4) Optional - add in a scoop of Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides for some extra protein

5) Blend on high until smooth

6) Top with a marshmallow from Coco Bakes LA (no cane sugar marshmallows)

If you want to get a little fancy, you can grate one of Eating EVOLVED's chocolate bars over your hot chocolate.

It is so rich and creamy, has amazing chocolatey flavor and is food allergy friendly! While you are buying their Hot Chocolate + Collagen, check out their scrumptious chocolate bars and chocolate cups, too!

AND - if you use promo code "KRYSTENDTMT" at checkout you will receive a free chocolatey gift with your purchase. The free gift changes each month to keep your chocolate needs met! Enjoy!
