The ONLY Medical Advice You Need From Instagram
Fear. It’s a tactic used a lot on Instagram. Don’t eat this or you will die. This ingredient is bad for you. Don’t add this to your smoothie or coffee or you will die. “ORGANIC” doesn’t matter. Vegetables are bad for you. Don’t count calories or carbs, that’s stupid! Only buy THIS brand of __ or you will die. THIS HAS TO STOP! INSTAGRAM should not be your doctor. The same ingredients that can hurt someone don’t necessarily hurt others & might be one of the only safe things for them to eat.
The only medical advice you should listen to on IG are things that your mom would most likely say: 💦Stay hydrated. 😴Get enough sleep. 🥦Eat your veggies. 🙏🏽Be kind to others. There is a lot of FEAR happening on IG & I have honestly been hurt by it so many times. The same people who say, “counting calories is dumb” are normally really thin/lean & don’t struggle with the same things I do. I have to remind myself that THEY ARE WRONG... for me. I’m not saying counting calories is bad or good BUT—WE ARE DIFFERENT. Some of us NEED to look at carb intake, some of us don’t. Either way is fine but don’t make people feel bad for it. When someone says that an ingredient is bad, do your own research! Ask your doctor! I ask my AMAZING Naturopath Doctor (also a nutritionist) about so many ingredients to see if they are okay for me PERSONALLY to consume. I trust her judgment over Instagram. There is also too much bashing of other “influencers” on instagram & it breaks my heart. Literally I have cried so much over this. There is a way to say all of the same stuff without being so hurtful towards others & using FEAR as a tool. I have debated on whether or not to post this. I have written & rewritten this post. I have cried while writing it & reading it aloud to Jeff. I don’t know if any of you will relate. I am often reminded by Jeff to keep doing what I am doing. To only focus on my path & not worry about the rest, to put it in God’s hands & not my own.
