The Viral Frozen Banana Bark Recipe You Need To Try ASAP!

The history of frozen dipped bananas goes back to the early 1940s in Newport Beach at a local candy shop on Balboa Island. The shop began dipping bananas in chocolate and freezing them and the treat quickly gained popularity among locals and tourists alike and is now a beloved staple of Newport Beach's culinary scene. They are so simple and so delicious and really who doesn't love chocolate and bananas? Rather than dipping the bananas, I came up with a new method that I had been making for quite some time and decided it was time to share it with you!

Next time you come to the OC, pop over to Balboa Island and try a famous dipped banana!

Side note: if you're looking for the best sprinkles which are dye free then you need to order from Supernatural Kitchen! Their sprinkles are so cute and they have a wide variety of sprinkles, too. They are school-safe and also made in the USA!

Feel free to use whatever nut butter you want. I've made it with cashew butter, almond butter and also pecan butter. It's delicious with white chocolate on top instead of chocolate - use what you have and go for it!

INGREDIENTS

a banana

peanut butter (or nut butter of choice)

melted chocolate

sprinkles or peanuts or chocolate chips

Directions; Mash banana on a piece of parchment paper on top of a plate or cutting board. Pop it in the freezer for about 30 minutes (note: freezes quicker on a plate). Smother with your favorite nut butter and then spread melted chocolate on top of the nut butter. Top with Sprinkles and pop it back in the freezer just for a few min, cut into pieces & enjoy!
