12 Favorite Finds at The Winter Fancy Food Show 2019
I did it! I made it to Fancy Food West this year! We had a busy start to 2019 as we took a trip to NYC & Walt Disney World and flew back to San Francisco to attend The Fancy Food Show the following day — it was a busy time but was so much fun!
How would I describe Fancy Food Show in one word?
CHEESE! Cheese everywhere!
It’s a cheesy dream (if you eat dairy), for sure. My hubby and I don’t eat dairy (except for a little ghee and, on rare occasion, mozzarella or feta — I’m Greek), so we didn’t eat much of what was at the show. In fact, when we arrived and saw extra large cheese wheels stacked to the ceiling (real talk), I didn’t think I would find 10 favorite things to share with you. Boy, was I wrong! I was so wrong that I actually have 12 things for you that we just LOVED at The Fancy Food Show!
I love looking for new products on the market in the health and wellness industry. I’m so grateful that there really are so many options out there for those with food allergies, intolerances and special diet restrictions, and alternatives to the foods we used to love and can no longer eat.
Here are my favorite finds from The Winter Fancy Food Show 2019 in no particular order:
Freak Flag Foods Super Kale Pesto:
I found Freak Flag Foods the very last day of the show. I saw “PALEO” and knew that whatever they had I could have it! I tried their Super Kale Pesto and fell in love with the first bite! Holy wowza, Batman! The ingredients are so clean, so pure, ORGANIC and on point! There are no fillers or added unnecessary ingredients in this pesto at all!
Kween Granola butter:
It’s really as delicious as it sounds! It’s creamy, tasty & hearty. Looks like a nut butter but tastes like a cookie butter! I had seen it on social media and was wanting to try it for awhile. I'm so glad we finally got a taste, because this is a genius product! They also have one with added collagen. It would be great on toast or even sweet potatoes... and let’s be honest, a spoon! I love that their products are Vegan, gluten-free, refined sugar free, allergen-friendly & school-safe, too!
Chosen foods - Infused Avocado Oil Sprays:
Okay, the first day of the show I saw the brand new Chosen Foods Avocado Oil sprays in a “what’s new” display case for the show, and I was beyond thrilled to find their booth and try their new sprays! Obviously, I had their Garlic flavor on my mind to try first, and, let me tell you — they are all fantastic! The sweet flavors intrigued me, and when I got home from the show I made pancakes using their Cinnamon flavor — best decision ever! Beyond thrilled with this launch!
4th & Heart Turmeric Ghee:
Yeah, turmeric on and in everything is what’s happening in the food industry, and I am not complaining. Turmeric has so many benefits, like reducing inflammation and aiding in digestion, and it’s also very tasty, too! I was very happy that 4th & Heart added a Turmeric to their line up of delicious ghee! 4th & Heart ghee is made from the milk of New Zealand grass fed, pasture raised cows. I’ve already used it to cook shrimp, and it was perfection! Their ghee is gluten free, lactose free and paleo!
Mongibello Blood Orange Juice & Mandarin Orange Juice:
I don’t drink a lot of juice unless it’s green and has minimal fruit, but, I have to say, I was very impressed with these two juices! They taste like they were just squeezed that morning. They are made and imported from Sicily, Italy, and, honestly, I couldn’t stop drinking the little sample cups! Definitely a great find at the show!
Hippie Snacks Avocado Crisps & Cauliflower Crisps:
I have noticed a trend in adding cauliflowers to foods and snacks. Most of the time it’s a cauliflower powder or flour and not actual cauliflower. In Hippie Snacks’ Cauliflower Crisps, the first ingredient is CAULIFLOWER. Gotta love real ingredients! They are the perfect texture, are flavorful and definitely would be great with your favorite dip or hummus.
Milkadamia Vegan Butter:
Without a doubt, when I saw Milkadamia’s booth and saw their brand new vegan butter (that’s not even out yet), my jaw dropped to the floor and my eyes lit up. I already am a big fan of Milkadamia’s product line, and now I am even more excited about their brand new dairy free, plant based, palm-oil free macadamia butter. Plant based products are becoming more and more popular, and Milkadamia’s dairy free butter is the only one using macadamia nuts. I cannot even wait for this product to launch. I am beyond thrilled about it!
Zego Exceptional Oats:
I am a huge fan of Zego's entire line because everything is Organic and allergy friendly. They go above and beyond to make sure that the ingredients they use are tested and safe from the top food allergens. Their brand new Purity Protocol Exceptional Oats are tested free from glyphosate and tested for over 400 pesticides and herbicides. They are gluten free, allergen free, organic, free from the top 12 food allergens, nonGMO, raw, vegan and kosher. Their products are made in a facility FREE FROM gluten & top allergens (no peanuts, no tree nuts, no soy, no dairy, no egg, no wheat, no fish/shellfish, no lupin, no sesame, no mustard, no sulfites). Zego's entire line is phenomenal! Their oats are tasty, and their new rebrand looks gorgeous! I am so excited about everything that Zego is doing and works so hard for!
Barnana’s Banana Brittle & Peanut Butter Bites:
I am brand new to Barnana. I have seen their products everywhere, and even bought them for my dad and he loved them. I hadn’t tried them because I don’t eat much banana. However, after finally deciding to try their products, I have to say that I am a serious fan now. I tasted their Plantain Chips, Banana Brittle and Bites, and I am so impressed! While I did love everything I tried, their Organic Dark Chocolate Crunchy Banana Brittle, Organic Peanut Butter Crunchy Banana Brittle and the Organic Peanut Butter Chewy Banana Bites are insane! When I tasted the brand new Organic Peanut Butter Chewy Banana Bites the texture reminded me of a Milk Dud, only it didn’t stick to your teeth, and it’s much healthier, too. I love this brand so very much now and love that they are on a mission to eliminate food waste on organic banana farms. They use the “ugly bananas” and turn them into BARNANA. Genius brand.
Crazy Richard’s Wholly Rollie’s:
I can honestly say that we were among the first to try Wholly Rollies on day 1 of The Fancy Food Show and HOLY MOLY ROLLIE POLLIE I loved them! They are brand new, all natural, gluten free, plant based frozen protein balls! There are 3 flavors: PB & Strawberry, PB & Cacao and Cinnamon Oatmeal. Kimmi Wernli, who is the daughter of the founder of Crazy Richard’s Peanut Butter, created Wholly Rollies while thinking of her own kiddos. She wanted to create a simple protein snack that was made with nutritious, real ingredients. Mission accomplished! These will launch officially in March, but you can learn more about Crazy Richards and their other products below.
Primal Kitchen Thousand Island Dressing:
I mean, they already make the greatest Ketchup in the world, along with an incredible lineup of delicious, healthy salad dressings and mayos, and now they have launched Thousands Island dressing made with avocado oil, and it’s phenomenal! I want to pour it on a burger, dip fries in it and smother my life in it, at this point! It’s Whole 30, Paleo, Dairy Free, Soy & Canola Free, Gluten Free, and Keto. I'm a big fan! If you love Thousand Island Dressing then this is a must! You can use code KRYSTENSKITCHEN for a discount on any Primal Kitchen Foods products.
Hint Water Kids:
This is a genius product! It’s the same, tasty, Hint Water that you find in the big bottles only it’s in little kid juice boxes, and perfect for school lunches, travel, theme parks and snack time. I love the idea of taking milk, soda, juice and sugary filled drinks out of kid’s lunches and replacing it with water… but not any water, HINT WATER! They have ZERO juice, ZERO sugar and ZERO sweeteners! Hint Water Kids comes in 4 tasty flavors: Watermelon, Blackberry, Apple and Cherry
